Litigation Division

The Litigation Division advocates the City's interest in lawsuits filed against or on behalf of the City, its officers, employees and agencies. The division's 13 litigators represent the City in the state and federal court systems.

Generally legal claims and lawsuits involve the following issues:

  • inverse condemnation
  • civil rights
  • wrongful death
  • eminent domain
  • personnel disputes
  • employee disciplinary appeals before the Civil Service Board or before Hearing officers
  • "dangerous condition of public property"
  • personal injury
